MIDC Plans About 5,500 Acres for Industrial Expansion in Nagpur District

MIDC Plans About 5,500 Acres for Industrial Expansion in Nagpur District

Nagpur, Maharashtra: Nagpur’s industrial landscape could see further expansion as the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) plans to acquire about 5,500 acres of additional land in Nagpur district. The proposed acquisition is intended to accommodate industrial projects for which Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) have already been signed.

According to a recent Times of India report, MIDC CEO Dipendra Singh Kushwah announced the plan during his visit to Vidarbha in September 2026. The proposal comes as established industrial areas such as Hingna and Butibori are facing limited availability of industrial land.

About 5,500 Acres Planned for Industrial Development

MIDC is considering locations including Narkhed, Katol, Saoner and Kuhi for additional industrial development. The proposed expansion would extend industrial planning beyond Nagpur’s established industrial areas.

The announcement relates to planned land acquisition and industrial-development requirements. It does not mean that all proposed industrial projects have already started construction.

MIDC’s official land-allotment system also lists several industrial locations in the region, providing additional context on the corporation’s existing industrial land network.Additional Butibori Remains Another Growth Sector

This particular development takes place in light of the growing industrialization of the Additional Butibori area.

A key development that has been announced includes the development of a 1,500-acre green field manufacturing facility by Mahindra & Mahindra in the vicinity. The scale and plans of the development have been confirmed by Mahindra & Mahindra independently.

This particular development is distinct from the proposed 5,500-acre development, but serves to demonstrate the magnitude of development taking place around Nagpur.

There have been other previous developments around Additional Butibori regarding land acquisition and industrialization, and companies from various sectors have expressed interest in the area. Additional Butibori Still One Of The Important Areas For Development

This new report comes along with the industrial growth at Additional Butibori.

A notable project includes that of 1,500 acre green field plant by Mahindra & Mahindra. Mahindra Company independently has verified the extent of the project and their plan to establish an important manufacturing facility in Vidarbha region.

Although this project is independent of the 5,500 acre project, the magnitude of this project is indicative of the amount of industrial development taking place in Nagpur.

Previous reports have discussed land acquisition and industrial growth at Additional Butibori with many industrialists from manufacturing, energy, logistics and other sectors interested in this area.Emphasis on MSMEs and Infrastructure

One other significant element of the MIDC approach is the emphasis that it places on MSMEs.

As per the latest report, 20% of land in each MIDC industrial area is being allotted to MSMEs. The MIDC is also creating plug-and-play facilities meant to facilitate business to set up their industrial units where the infrastructure is already available.

These facilities can be helpful to smaller businesses working along with large manufacturing projects. But ultimately, the economic impact would depend on how far the projects have progressed.

What Could This Mean for Nagpur Real Estate? Industrial development may have a wider influence on the surrounding regions over the period of time. The new industrial projects may increase the demand for transportation, commercial services, rental housing, and housing for the people involved in the industry.

However, the MIDC decision should not be taken as an assurance for property price increase in the region. The effect of each location would depend upon variables like connectivity, infrastructure, employment, development restrictions, and the implementation of industrial projects.

Thus, it becomes essential for property purchasers to look into the basics of the location instead of only the future development plans.

Some of the key aspects include road connectivity, relevant approvals, title status, infrastructure, nearby facilities, and development status.

Planned Residential Development in Nagpur With further development in Nagpur, another aspect for development may be plotted residential areas in Nagpur.

Saraswati Nagri, which is located in Lonara, Nagpur, is one of such projects that may be taken into consideration by those who are considering purchasing residential plots in Nagpur. Buyers must undertake their own research regarding project approvals, infrastructure, documentation, and connectivity before buying any plots.

Saraswati Nagri shall not be marketed as a project linked with any proposal for land acquisition made by the MIDC unless proven otherwise by an official source.

What Buyers Should Watch Next The further steps to come on the proposal will give us a clear understanding about the future consequences of the MIDC. Investors interested in the development of Nagpur should pay attention to:

Notifications related to land acquisition Designation of specific plots of land Creation of industrial infrastructure Allotment of new industrial land Industrial projects under construction Roadways and transport developments Expansion of MSME centers

Such events could show the difference between mere announcements and the process of implementation. [https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/nagpur/midc-to-acquire-additional-5550-acres-land-in-nagpur-district/articleshow/133812963.cms?utm_source=chatgpt.com](https://)
