NMRDA Continues Promoting the ₹11,300-Crore New Nagpur Vision

Nagpur, Maharashtra: The New Nagpur Project worth ₹11,300 crore is attracting attention. The Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) is presenting the project to investors and construction firms.

During the Real Estate & Infrastructure Investors' Summit (REIIS) 2026 held in Mumbai on September 3, 2026, NMRDA Commissioner Sanjay Meena presented the project to the audience both locally and internationally. The project is based around an International Business & Finance Centre (IBFC).

As per The Times of India report, the presentation has attracted many developers who are interested in looking into investment options available through the project. The proposed development will cover around 1,710 acres of land with the goal of providing an integrated business and infrastructural ecosystem for firms, global capability centres (GCC), startups and financial institutions. What Is the New Nagpur Project? The modern vision of Nagpur is focused on creating a well-planned commercial area and an international centre for commerce and finance so that the city becomes one of the leading business centres in Central India.

This project will cover about 1710 acres, as stated by NBCC. In general terms, the entire development will comprise a business zone of about 1000 acres, while the rest of the area will be earmarked for future growth.

It is structured as a plug-and-play system, meaning that the infrastructure will be built in such a way that it will be able to provide support for various businesses as well as for the new community developments. Among the planned components identified by NBCC are:

Business facilities meant for start-ups and MSMEs; Information technology businesses and commercial offices; Residential and mixed-use community developments; Integrate underground utility tunnel; District cooling facilities; Automated waste collection and segregation systems; Business and urban infrastructure planned.

According to the Times of India, the aim of the project is expected to be smart infrastructure use, green planning and simplification of the procedure of starting a business. NBCC's Role in Naveen Nagpur The project has an implementation framework already in place with NBCC (India) Limited acting as the executing agency for the project.

Both NMRDA and NBCC entered into a Memorandum of Understanding in September 2025 to develop Naveen Nagpur which is spread over approximately 1,710 acres (692 hectares). NBCC is appointed as the Project Management Consultant (PMC) for the proposed business district.

In November 2025, an announcement was made by NBCC in respect of formal signing of the agreement with NMRDA where the first phase of the project cost was stated to be about ₹2,966.10 crore.

This amount is unrelated to ₹11,300-crore New Nagpur figure being referred to in connection with the larger vision of this project. Both figures refer to different level of developments and cannot be treated as same project.
